Character Name
Class 13
Class 13 of the New Hope's Peak Academy. This is one of the first classes that succeeded in becoming a full-fledged class and were part of the first wave of children accepted into HPA.

Satoru loves his class in general, even the more difficult members. To him, they're like a second family, even if some of them are distant, and he'd go to immense lengths for them. Some of them don't realize this, however, or that the major sign of his affection is that, while he might do the same thing for his class as for others, for other people he's being pushed into it -- for his class, he does it willingly. Even so, he still endures all that he can for them. Satoru is also one of those who would try to believe in everyone if a murder happened, but secretly doubt himself and wonder who it was that he was wrong about trusting.
Shuichi Saihara
Shuichi is one of the classmates that Satoru would consider "a friend", and is someone he admires greatly because of Shuichi's intelligence and sharp wit, though he is amused at times by how oblivious Shuichi can be. While he does harbor some jealousy because of the attention Shuichi gets from Kokichi, Satoru knows that it's petty and ridiculous, and so he tends to keep it to himself and doesn't let it change how he treats Shuichi.

He's comforted by Shuichi's presence and loves talking to him, especially because Shuichi actually takes time to get to know him and read between the lines. He's happy that Shuichi remembers even small things about him, and he feels that Shuichi shouldn't lack confidence like he does. Satoru is the one who should be lacking in confidence; Shuichi deserves to admire himself and stand tall.
Aki Togami
Aki is someone that Satoru both likes and is somewhat afraid of. Because of Aki's kind nature towards everyone in the class, Satoru is drawn to him -- much like a lot of the others in it -- and feels a little safer around him thanks to the calm head Aki usually keeps and how he seems to be able to take command of a situation simply. However, the aura that Aki gives off makes him uneasy at times, and the fact that Aki can easily hide things or deceive people makes him both jealous and nervous.

Even so, Satoru honestly thinks that Aki would never hurt any of them. He's certainly capable of it, and he believes Aki could easily commit murder without a second thought if it was necessary... but he would never hurt their group. He does doubt sometimes, when things get really tense, but he trusts in Aki deep down.
Gonta Gokuhara
Gonta is a strangely simple man, and no one could deny it, but something about that is a bit endearing to Satoru. He finds the blunt, innocent, oblivious nature of the hulking teen to be adorable, quite frankly, and mixed with his attractive appearance it makes him think of a very pretty child. Not that he believes Gonta is stupid; far from it. He's just naive and ignorant, and while that is a problem, it's not something Satoru can really help with, so he works around it, explaining things in simpler terms and trying his best to respect Gonta even as he does so.

This is in part because Gonta is one of his dear friends. Though he doesn't feel like he can be fully honest with Gonta, it isn't because Satoru fears how he'll react or that he might get mocked; it's simply because he doesn't think Gonta could really understand his feelings. It's not Gonta's fault, and he certainly won't be the first, so he doesn't feel any resentment over this, especially since Gonta already goes to great lengths to protect him.

Not to mention help him. Gonta is Satoru's "assistant", in a way, and it's thanks to Gonta that he can have so much on-hand. Gonta gets him herbs, flowers, and plants to mix into medicine, can tell which ones tend to be bad, and even captures venomous animals so that Satoru can extract the venom for antidotes without hurting the actual animal. The care of his class would be a good deal less absolute without Gonta's help, and not only does he know it, he's fully open about it, too.
K1-B0 (Keebo)
Keebo is a modern of technology to Satoru, and something he admires greatly, but at the same time, Satoru can't help but find him adorable. The slight difficulties he has or the times he leaps to certain conclusions are more cute than anything to him, like how you'd look at a toddler, though he does his best to keep that thought under wraps. Even if Keebo is mentally immature, he's still trying his best, and there's no need to mock him.

He doesn't interact with Keebo as much as the others, however, because Keebo's robotic state means that Satoru can't do anything for him, health-wise. Because of this, while their relationship seems a bit more distant from the outside, he's actually quite close with the robot since all their interactions are social and personal, without any business getting in the way. He does feel a bit guilty about it, though; he can help every other classmate, but when it comes to Keebo, there's absolutely nothing he can offer for any kind of physical problem or pain. He knows Keebo doesn't mind, and that Keebo's reassured him of it before, but it's still something that sticks in him.
Kirumi Tojo
Tojo is odd, but welcome. Satoru is grateful for all that she does for him and the others in his class. Immensely so, even, because not only does Tojo care for them as best she can, but if he gives her advice or an instruction on what they might need or could help -- say, a specific type of tea to combat an illness most of them have or help the others resist it -- she seems more than willing to help him out with it. He also knows that it's Tojo who's made sure certain more stubborn members are keeping up on their medication.

But while he appreciates her, that's also just it: he appreciates her, nothing more. He feels no actual close connection to Tojo, and while he would say they have a bond, it's more as light friends than anything deeply close. It's unfortunate, but he doesn't have the confidence to try and get closer to her despite it.
Kaito Momota
Kaito is someone that Satoru has a very close relationship with, which tends to surprise quite a few people considering their opposite natures. Kaito is loud, cheerful, and boisterous, while Satoru himself is much quieter and less bold, and to a few, at least, it seems like they'd get on each other's nerves rather than being close. It's not entirely wrong, either: there are some things about Kaito that Satoru is annoyed by, especially considering Kaito's blind trust to the point of believing in people who have even hurt him before. He finds it some mix of sad and admirable, though he does believe Kaito goes too far with it.

Despite that, however, he really does adore Kaito a lot. A part of it is simple closeness. Kaito is dying, Satoru is a doctor, and thus the two of them are together quite a lot, whether it's for check-ups, medication to help with symptoms, or Satoru trying his best to give Kaito new medicines he's mixed up to see if that will stall or cure his illness at all. Satoru takes his job seriously, and since Kaito is his patient, he can't rest until he's found some way to cure the disease, or at least stall it enough that it can be managed.

The other part is simple closeness out of acceptance. Kaito was one of the first of his class that Satoru actually met, since he usually kept to himself and tried to stay reserved, and once Kaito found out how Satoru had been treated for his heritage, he'd -- loudly -- made sure that Satoru knew he didn't give a crap about it. This let Satoru warm up to him somewhat, and the rest simply came from how genuinely caring and friendly Kaito was to him. While Kaito can get to be a little much at times, he never regrets their friendship, and it's something that's dear to him -- the same as his close friendships with others of his class.
Kokichi Oma
To Satoru, Kokichi is like a darkly-shining star, some sort of awe-inspiring statue that one places high up to ensure everyone who passes by has some sort of reaction. From what he sees, Kokichi is confident, strong, has a powerful presence, and can easily slip between people and through situations like a river through a mountain. And it may not even all be genuine! From the way he acts, Satoru isn't sure if all of that is true or a lie Kokichi is telling, but either way, he admires that he can do it... and above all else, he admires that Kokichi can lie so well.

His feelings for Kokichi go beyond admiration, however. Satoru is madly, deeply in love with him, both the lying Leader they see most often and the small glimpses of the real thing they get at times when they can read between lines or he opens up a little. He wants desperately to know him better and tries his hardest to work at it, though his own average lying skills makes it hard sometimes to try and guess at what Kokichi really means. Even so, however failed his attempts might be, he makes them with an earnest heart, and hopes dearly that someday his feelings can be reciprocated. Failing that... he just wants to be friends and to be someone who can understand Kokichi well.

He's one of the few people who isn't unnerved or frightened by the creepy personality that Kokichi reveals at times, or how dominating he can get. It's the opposite, in fact; seeing Kokichi likes that excites Satoru, making his stomach flutter with the type of nerves one gets while going down a roller coaster... just if one was going down with a tiger.
Korekiyo Shinguji
Korekiyo is... odd, and that's the best way that Satoru can think to describe him. It isn't that he doesn't like Korekiyo or anything, just that everything about him is odd somehow, and he feels way different from most people Satoru knows. He doesn't really mind him at all, and actually finds Korekiyo's lectures quite interesting, especially the ones related to his Arabic side (that he was targeted by once Korekiyo learned he didn't know much). Still, while he doesn't mind Korekiyo, he just can't shake that feeling of oddness, and it leaves him to keep up at least a slight bit of reservedness around him. Their relationship is still friendly enough regardless.

Part of the oddness may be because Satoru is a doctor. Korekiyo has... interesting desires in bed times, to say the least, and Satoru's had to help treat more than a few interest wounds the next morning, a few of which he could only barely keep his professionalism up while seeing. He also thinks that Korekiyo is making fun of him a little when these come up, since Satoru always feels like he's being told way too much information about it or that Korekiyo is smirking at him while he does so. It doesn't feel like it's in bad faith or anything, at least, but it still bugs him a little.
Rantaro Amami
Rantaro is someone that makes Satoru a bit uneasy, especially with the cryptic way he talks. It's not that Satoru thinks he's a bad person -- he absolutely doesn't, and honestly, Satoru thinks that he's a kind enough person that he'd rather be closer friends than they are. But part of the wall between them is the problems that Rantaro has, and Satoru can spot them keenly -- most worse is what he suspects is PSTD. However, because Rantaro is so secretive and paranoid, Satoru learned fast that he wasn't going to give anything up, and rather than press to try to find out, he simply let it go so Rantaro would at least seek treatment from him.

Of course, just because he let it go doesn't mean he isn't worried, and Satoru tries his best to simply be an honest friend and a safe person for Rantaro, though he has no idea how well it works out. Since Rantaro seems to like being around him well enough, he thinks he's doing well, but he can't let go of the worry deep inside of him. Rantaro's own paranoia makes it hard for Satoru to confide in him as well, not so much because of trust but because he doesn't want to put more burdens on his classmate. Even so, he doesn't think Rantaro minds it, though he isn't skilled enough to pick through that crypticness to really figure it out.

As a doctor, Satoru of course guards everyone's files and info as much as he can, but anything about Rantaro he tries to go a step further with, to the point that he's even let Rantaro check over and hold his own charts to try and make him feel better. All he asks is that Rantaro brings them with him so that Satoru can update them whenever they have sessions.
