Info on the AU | Classmate Relations


> Personal Traits

--> Polite in speech. People are [lastname]-[gendered honorific]; so -kun for boys and -chan for girls. He's not overly formal like Tojo, but him using someone's first name at all is a big thing.

--> Mixed. Father is Japanese, mother is Arabic.

--> Is timid and awkward, very unsure, and doesn't have much self-confidence outside of his talent, which he's completely confident in. He tries to cover it up by lying and acting pleasant though his lying is average at best (and awful at worst).

--> Despite this, he can sometimes slip and speak badly of people he really hates. He's never horrifically rude or nasty, but it's still startling, and he's so gentle that he feels bad about being open about it.

--> Is very kind-hearted; he hates to see people suffer or get sick, which is one reason why he's so easily walked over. He'd rather sacrifice himself than someone else, even if being pushed too far naturally breeds that resentment (though he hates that about himself). His kindness extends to anything around him that he can see the value in, such as his friend's friends or the pets that make people happy.

--> Has a respect for the natural world, because so much of it is used to make medicine or cures. This extends to insects partly because of their usefulness (such as pollination) but mostly because of his connection to Gonta and seeing how much Gonta loves them. Thanks to Gonta, insects also don't get into his mixtures, avoid his clinic so it stays clean, and won't bite him or cause other problems. Because of that, he doesn't have any issues with non-pest bugs (IE, things not cockroaches) being around, and will sometimes absent-mindedly pick them up to place on his head or shoulder if they're in his way or wanting attention. He also tends to put out little bowls of things on the windowsill if he's keeping it open for them (like sugar water).

--> He's also very honest about conditions, unlike most doctors in Japan.

--> Does have some resentment that people take him at face value even though he isn't the greatest liar; however, he also knows this is his own fault for not being honest, which just makes him feel worse about himself.

--> Is incredibly lonely, since he doesn't make friends easily (especially with the attempts at lying and self-confidence issues) and can only really be open around them. Despite this, he genuinely loves all of his classmates, and does his best not to let his insecurities affect how he treats them. The fact they often feel friendly back towards him helps.

--> Is seen as the "sweet/perfect doctor" because of this, which is a title he absolutely loathes to hear, or anything close to it. He does strive to be the greatest doctor (so the actual SHSL title is something he holds dear); people seeing him as "the sweetest" or "perfect" when he's hiding a lot of his own feelings is what makes him angry.

--> Color-codes certain types of medication, that way people who need it or are packing it know what color roughly corresponds to what (painkillers, antibiotics, etc.). He, of course, doesn't let it out without examinations, but he knows people will try to steal things so he'd rather them not poison themselves.

--> He likes to read manga a lot, and has about as many of them as he does books. He isn't very good at spotting more explicit types of either, however. He also likes gardening, doodling, and making paper charms or cranes, though those are mostly just for relaxing.

--> He has a hidden side that's rather interested in the occult or creepy things and can surprise people when he leans in to listen to scary stories. While he's easily spooked, only the creepiest of things tend to stick with him long; most things that other people are bothered by he doesn't find too problematic. Part of this is being so immersed in science... but the other part is that he "likes" some types of those things more than he feels comfortable saying. It's pretty much a "kink" for these specific things, enough that Kokichi can fluster and excite him by pulling out that eerie face of his.
